OutinPerth Acts to Restore Trust!
The Order would like to congratulate the new owner of OutinPerth for her prompt action taken to restore Trust and confidence regarding the above matter! It is clear that the NEW Editor of OutinPerth has moved swiftly to reconnect with the GLBTIQ Community and this is reflected in the renovations to form and content.
The Order would like to publicly thank the Federal Minister for Health, who clearly did read the copy of the NEW Gay Newspaper, which Sister Mary Jane's Mother kindly posted, who called for AIDS organisations to rethink HIV Policy, which was what was called for in the letter from the Board of People Living with HIV/AIDS WA Inc. Finally a Government Minister has taken the inititiave to state what we all know, that over the past few years there has been a 40% increase in the rate of new HIV infections.
Without
wanting to be acused of stating the bleeding obvious, the Order would
like to point out that the vast majority of HIV positive people do take
very seriously the responsiblity to prevent the transmission of HIV and
therefore it is by this good grace that the number of HIV negative "PLWHA
Membership Upgrades" is not higher.
Shame, Stigma, Discrimination and Bullying amongst other things, have all
been identified as Risk Factors in the transmission of HIV. The high incidence
of targeted discrimination by negatives towards positives, should be of
concern to all in the GLBTIQ Community, as experience shows that those individuals
who are engaging in harmful cultural practices are actually undermininng
health promotion strategies implemented to prevent HIV.
In regards to the Other Matter contained in the above Retraction, Fagmedia.com sources have informed us that the Board of the Western Australian AIDS Council is currently attending to a matter involving a Board Member's failure to disclose board member status, to a positive person, while discussing matters contained in correspondence to the WAAC Board (Read Complaint!)As yet no concrete evidence in writing has been presented to indicate what action has been taken to address this severely disingenuous, harm causing, "lapse of Board Member judgement!"
The
Order would like to point out that those people aspiring to leadership positions
within the Community need to conduct themselves in a way that matches the
responsibility and dignity of the postition! Members of the Gathered Faithful
would be better served if Governments and (GLBTIQ) Organisations remember
that the vast majority of decisions to vote are based not on how the Rich
and Powerful are doing but by how "the common folk are doing"!

In Other News, apparently both the National Association of HIV/AIDS (NAPWA) and the WAAC auspiced HIV/AIDS Peer Advisory Network both have a new President & Chairperson. WAAC are also running extensive advertising in the community to promote a Beach Retreat for Positive Gay Men. Rumour has it that there are 9 places to be filled, however, the Order is yet to confirm this!

The Bell of Tolliday, because it’s not enough to be seen, we need to be heard too.
